One-Stop-Shops: Overcoming legal and organisational challenges to power local renovation waves

    Organiser: Covenant of Mayors office

Co-organised by the Covenant of Mayors - Europe Office, the International Union of Property Owners (UIPI) and the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy, as part of the European Sustainable Energy Week.

One-Stop-Shops (OSS) function as citizen advice and support hubs that can be seen as a keystone in local government strategies to catalyse energy renovation rates. OSS are an important enabler to decarbonise private building stock, improve citizen wellbeing and combat energy poverty. Often set up as virtual and physical hubs, OSS at city- or district-level address key barriers associated with fragmented renovation markets...

    Join us to discuss:

    • How are Covenant of Mayors signatories, local and regional governments across Europe going about setting up citizen information and support services to facilitate the renovation of homes, what kind of legal structures are available and what are their potential benefits and implications?

    • Which services can and should an OSS provide and how do OSS balance their limited resources in practice to accomplish their goals?

    • How can OSS operations be maintained in the long term?

    • What are the specific support needs of local governments and how are these addressed at European and Member State?
